Im Rahmen der Ausstellung »Schrumpfende Städte//Shrinking Cities – Interventionen« in der Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst untersuchten die Autoren dieser Ausstellung einerseits, wie die Bewohner mittels individueller Aneignungen die Innenstadt Detroits suburbanisieren. Zum anderen entwickeln sie schulisches Unterrichtsmaterial, um das Bewusstsein für die spezifischen Probleme Detroits zu fördern und damit langfristig Möglichkeiten der Einflussnahme zu schaffen.

HOWEVER UNSPECTACULAR: THE NEW SUBURBANISM

In the context of the exhibition „Schrumpfende Städte// Shrinking Cities – Interventions“ in the Gallery of Contemporary Art the authors of this exhibition investigated how the residents of Detroit „suburbanized“ the city centre via individual takeovers on the one hand. On the other hand they developed educational resources to promote the awareness for the specific problems of Detroit and thus to form long-term prospects of exerting an influence.
