DOODLEBOARD

Das Doodleboard ist der Prototyp einer Online Plattform, welche sich in erster Linie an Vorschulkinder richtet. Diese haben die Möglichkeit sich nonverbal mittels des Mediums der Zeichnung auszudrücken und auf diese Weise in Kontakt mit anderen Kindern zu treten. Des Weiteren eignet sich das Programm für den ersten Einstieg in das Internet, da es auf spielerische Weise die Ursprungsidee des Webs vermittelt: weltweite Kommunikation und Austausch von Ideen und Ansichten.

Die Anwendung befindet sich seit Januar 2009 in der Entwicklungsphase. Dabei sind zwei Testgruppen involviert – eine Kindergartengruppe aus Leipzig (Deutschland) und eine Vorschulgruppe aus Salé (Marokko). Unsere ersten Erfahrungen zeigen, dass sich die Kinder schnell im Programm zurecht finden. Sie nehmen die Möglichkeit des virtuellen Zeichnens mit Begeisterung wahr. Erste Kontaktaufnahmen zu bereits bestehenden Zeichnungen konnten innerhalb der Gruppen beobachtet werden. Der erste internationale Austausch findet in der Testphase von Oktober 2009 bis Februar 2010 statt.
Die Anwendung funktioniert über Mozilla Firefox 3.0 und Flash Player 10 – ab Windows XP (zur Zeit kein Mac-Support). Nach dem Login, der durch eine Kombination von Symbolbildern erreicht wird, geht die Anwendung in den Vollbildmodus. So können Kinder selbstständig und frei von Ablenkung durch die Browserfenster und zudem mit mehr Sicherheit im Internet arbeiten.
Auf dem projektbegleitenden Blog sind alle Funktionen und Hintergründe nochmals ausführlich erklärt, zudem können Ergebnisse kleiner Testreihen eingesehen werden.
Unter „HAVE A TRY“ kann die Anwendung getestet werden. Eine Anleitung ist im Blog enthalten.

DOODLEBOARD

The doodleboard is the prototype of an online platform that is primarily addressed to preschool children. Thereby they have the facility to express themselves non-verbally via the medium of drawing and to get in touch with other children by this means. Furthermore the programm is suited for the first introduction in the internet as it playfully mediates the original idea of the internet: worldwide communication and exchange of ideas and views.

The application is in its development phase since January 2009. Two test groups are involved in this process – a group from a kindergarten in Leipzig (Germany) and a preschool group from Salé (Morocco). Our first experiences show that the children quickly get the feel of things for the programm. They make use of the possibilities of the virtual drawing with enthusiasm. First approaches of contacting with already existing drawings could be observed inmidst the groups. The first international exchange takes place in its test stage from October 2009 to February 2010.

The application works with Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and Flash Player 10 – from Windows XP on (no Mac Support at the moment). After the login via a combination of symbols as pictures, the application comes on stream full screen. That way children can work in the internet and through the browser window independently and without getting distracted. All functions and background information are elaborately described over again on the blog accompanying the project, furthermore the results of smaller test series can be viewed.
